East Coast Pro
With East Coast Pro underway down in Hoover, Alabama, the Northeast Team is sponsored by the Boston Red Sox this year. The Red Sox feature 4 New York State Players: RHP Jason Diaz (Kellenberg – 2019), OF Tre Fletcher (Trinity-Pawling – 2020), RHP Michael Limoncelli (Horseheads – 2019), and OF Tim McHugh (Commack – 2019). Being selected for this team and Area Codes puts these players in front of MLB Scouts and MLB Front Offices to prepare for the 2019 MLB Draft. It is a great event to prepare these kids for much more challenging competition then they are used to. Great way to give scouts/front offices a look to see how these high school kids do against elite competition and possibly minor league play should they be drafted.
RHP Jason Diaz (Miami Commit) is #1 on our 2019 HS Player Rankings list and with good reason. The 6’1″ 220 lb durable frame, has been the #1, with his blazing fastball he gets it up to 94 MPH. The FB has inconsistent movement, but that’s what makes it tough on hitters. It has life, sink, and run at times. You don’t know which way it’s going to go. The slider is tight and has good tilt. The changeup has a chance to be his best pitch. It already has very good fade on it. All of his pitches have plenty of potential.
OF Tre Fletcher (Vanderbilt Commit) is the only 2020 Grad on the ECP Roster. Fletcher stands at 6’2 and weighs 205 LB. He already has that pro body. Tre is #1 on our 2020 High School Player Rankings list as he checks all the boxes. He has plus plus bat speed and plus plus power. The hit tool is good but needs consistency. Tre is a plus runner, and shows off a plus arm. This player is truly an exciting one to watch as he still has 2 more years of High School Baseball.
RHP Michael Limoncelli (Coastal Carolina Commit) is #2 on our 2019 HS Player List. Limoncelli has the highest ceiling out of these 4 players. The 6’2″ 180 LB righty, has a thin build, and will continue to grow/get stronger. Michael has a live fluid arm. Has a good downward plane. Kid can pitch, graded extremely well on the pitch-ability scale for us. The Fastball can get up to 92 MPH, and sits 89-91 MPH. The Curveball which is his best pitch has sharp 12 to 6 break. The Changeup sits 80-82 MPH with some fade. Kid can flat out pitch, and has a chance to really rise up boards with a good tournament.
OF Tim McHugh (TCU Commit) sits at #3 on our 2019 HS Player Rankings list. The Commack (Long Island) native, is the top player out of that area and committed early to TCU. McHugh comes from the same High School as most recent MLB Draft Picks (SS Jesse Berardi and C Charles Galiano). The 6’3″ 210 LB McHugh passes the eye test as soon as he gets off the bus. He possesses a good amount of strength already, but still has plenty of potential as he fully fills out. Tim has plenty of raw power and bat speed to compete against the best in the country. On the defense side of the ball, he has a plus arm and fields his position well to go along with plus speed which allows him to cover plenty of ground.
